During 1997-2000 the State property in the
total amount of over 810 mln. Lei has been privatised. During
this period 12 commercial and 52 investment tenders, 24 direct
negotiations have been held and 200 companies have been exposed
out of which 88 were privatized. In the same period the State
shares of 531 companies have been sold. Additionally, 350
small objects have been privatized at outcry and Dutch auctions.
As of December 31, 2000 92% of total dwellings became private.
Currently the government is eager to privatize
state companies in the following areas of activities: Wine
production, Tobacco and cigarettes production, energy production
and distribution.

3. Power Distribution Company Retelele Electrice de Distributie Nord-Vest (RED Nord-Vest)
supplies energy to a 5,000 square kilometer area in Northwestern Moldova, servicing a population of 540,000.
Company headquarters are located in the regional center of Donduseni. In addition to its headquarters,
RED Nord-Vest has 6 Regional Distribution Divisions located in Bricheni, Soroca, Edinets, Ocnitsa, Drochia.
The total capacity of distribution transformers is 495 MVA. These transformers are based on 2,429 substations
(2205 cabin substations, 222 indoor substations and 2 pole-placed substations). The utilization factor
of the distribution network is around 13 percent. There are 94 incoming 6-10 kV terminals equipped with
commercial register meters.
