The European Academy for Economic and Cultural Relations (AEREC), with its headquarters in Rome, will establish a specialized agency for attracting investments in Moldova, Academy President Ernesto Carpintieri stated during his meeting here with Moldova’s Acting President Mihai Ghimpu, who approved the idea.
Ernesto Carpintieri said the Agency will be looking for investments to come to Moldova not only from Italy but also from other European Union member countries. He presumes now is a suitable moment for investing in this republic because in 5 years or so it will be too late.
The Italian guest promised that first investments to be attracted through the Agency will come to Moldova already in early 2011, and these will be mostly investments in the farm sector.
The interlocutors discussed also the problem of mitigation of flood consequences in Moldova.
Italy’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Moldova Stefano De Leo said that his country has already shipped a consignment of humanitarian assistance for flood victims in Moldova, and the Italian Civil Defense Service is ready to help build new houses for suffered families, because it has a vast experience of rehabilitating infrastructures damaged by natural calamities.
Ambassador De Leo said his country can provide seeds and necessary machinery for Moldova.
