Moldova can’t refuse to export wine to Russia and will meet all the requirements, necessary for its deliveries to Russian market

This was announced by the Deputy-Premier, the Minister of Economy of Moldova – Valeriu Lazar after the meeting of the Government. He noted that Moldova worked actively on diversification of its outlets resulting in considerable progress. Particularly, recently the Moldavian wine exports to Poland increased considerably. At the same time, in the next 5-10-15 years Moldova won’t be able to redirect to other countries all its wine export, oriented mainly to Russia.

He also stressed at the EU wine market fierce competition existed and in EU countries the overproduction of wine was observed. Moldavian wine has good chances for consolidation at the EU markets but for their promotion time and funds are required. Speaking of the claims of Rospotrebnadzor to Moldavian wines quality Valeriu Lazar said each country had the right to determine its own requirements for product deliveries at local market; they might be equal for everyone. Moldavian authorities are ready to toughen the quality control of delivered to Russia wine products.

He regrets that the former government concentrated the whole wine certification process in one institution, creating single national center for alcohol products certification and in the sector of certificates of conformity issuance there is no competition at present. Valeriu Lazar supports the rendering of such services by several laboratories that will allow increasing competition and quality of services. At the negotiations with Rospotrebnadzor on Moldavian wine deliveries to Russia Moldova is represented by Andrei Gurin, the Director of State Inspection on Alcohol Products Control, who is ready to discuss all technical questions with Gennady Onishchenko, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, the Chief Sanitary Inspector of Russia.
